I am a specialist employment lawyer, the founder of Gryphon Black, with over 20 years’ experience advising on workplace law issues.

Before Gryphon Black, I held senior law practice positions, at Partner and Head of Employment level, primarily based in Chancery Lane, and the City.

My day-to-day practice is to help clients manage the employment relationship, which involves the full range of workplace issues. This includes advice on contracts, HR policies and procedures, performance and conduct issues, disciplinaries and grievances, discrimination, redundancies, and settlement agreements. I have a particular interest and expertise in the law on dismissals, family friendly rights, sex discrimination, as well as employee well-being within the workplace.

I manage our fixed fee HR and workplace law support service: GBhrlegal. A creative and low fee support service for employers.

My aim is to assist clients, both employers and employees, in managing workplace issues of all kinds in a considerate, strategic and pragmatic fashion; to add value by properly understanding clients needs and through proactive engagement; and to form long term relationships built on trust and positive outcomes.

The breadth of my experience means Gryphon Black also provides a CEDR accredited mediation service, to support employers and employees on workplace disputes.

I am a regular speaker at national events, and member of the Employment Lawyers Association and Discrimination Law Association.
